Underwater Horror Game 'Death In The Water 2' Is Looking Seriously Creepy

Death In The Water 2 launches on Steam later this year and the underwater gameplay is already freaking me out.

I recently carried out an experiment as, I’ll be honest, I’m not a horror person, but I thought I’d give the genre a go and actually ended up having a pretty good time. That being said, I’m not quite ready to tackle every horror game out there because there are some quite frankly terrifying options.

Later this year, The Callisto Protocol is set to be released which has officially deemed itself “the single most scariest game for PC and consoles,” and judging by the gameplay that we’ve seen, I believe that statement. What’s even more disturbing is that developers studied real life gore to bring the game’s vision to life, which is highly concerning. Anyway, if you simply can’t wait for The Callisto Protocol, there’s a new Steam sensation on the horizon which could just scratch the horror itch.

Check out a snippet of Death In The Water 2’s creepy gameplay below.

Death In The Water 2 is gaining a ton of traction on social media. Created by indie developer Lighthouse Games Studio, the horror title is set completely underwater - so it’s probably not a game for those of you with thalassophobia.

The official synopsis reads: “Dodge and carve your way through swarms of terrifying sea creatures controlled by Death, a vicious giant mind-controlling Kraken that haunts your every move. Scavenge for hidden treasure to unlock weapons, and upgrades to help you in your fight for survival. Every dive reveals a new nightmare.” Development clips released on the studio’s YouTube channel shows a player being swarmed by sharks, sea snakes, and the most terrifying mermaids I’ve ever seen. Big nope from me, although the sharks do look cool. Take a look below.

The game is available to wishlist on Steam now and should be released later in the year. The studio has also revealed that it plans to release Death In The Water 2 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S at a later date. This game has put me right off entering the sea for the rest of eternity.
