Shadow Of The Erdtree isn't the only Elden Ring release we're getting this year

Shadow Of The Erdtree isn't the only Elden Ring release we're getting this year

Die-hard fans might be interested in this new release

Elden Ring is at the forefront of a lot of our minds right now, not least of all due to the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. However, you may be interested to learn that this isn’t the only Elden Ring release we’re getting in 2024.

As fans gear up for hard battles against the best boss in the game, they’re missing out on other news of an Elden Ring expansion that will further build on the lore we keep deep diving into. This lore will be markedly different to what’s gone before, as it will look at the people who play Elden Ring rather than the characters.

Make sure you don't forget to watch Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

FromSoftware isn’t known to be forthcoming with obvious lore, which is quite frustrating for Dark Souls fans. So when we heard a novel was coming, we expected the ambiguous lore to be the primary focus. But no. It’s about us.

It’s a unique move.

Kadakowa Group is behind this new endeavor, with its story about an office worker who escapes from the humdrum life into the fantastical world of Elden Ring. So far, so relatable. Then one day, a colleague of this protagonist spots the character reading guides for the game, which eventually leads to them bonding and becoming friends.

Very twee, but we’re kind of digging it so far.

This novel will release in Japan late March, and as far as we’re aware, will only be available there at this time. You could pre-order it and pay for shipping, or you can wait and see if it launches here later down the line.

In truth, we don’t expect many gamers to be desperate to read this book, as nice as it sounds – you’ll all be too busy screaming at having to fight a new version of the game’s worst boss. Can’t have the good without the bad, you know.

As for Shadow of the Erdtree, that will launch on 21 June.
