Cyberpunk 2077 sequel tease is exactly what we wanted to hear

Cyberpunk 2077 sequel tease is exactly what we wanted to hear

Oh, CD Projekt Red, you're spoiling us

Cyberpunk 2077 has come a long way since its launch. It’s transitioned from a broken, unplayable game to arguably one of the best titles available today, and yet the devs still want more from its sequel.

Fans have been blown away by how incredible Cyberpunk 2077 has become, with many agreeing that, if the game had been released in 2023, it would have won GOTY. The love for the game doesn’t just come from the glorious add-ons like the ‘Judy butt’ scene, but because of how much effort has been poured into bringing the game back from the brink.

Speaking of the GOTY 2023, did you check out what GAMINGbible's is?

Arguably, Phantom Liberty finalised this return, with the DLC almost a game in and of itself. There’s no denying we’ve been blessed with a lot of control over what happens to the characters, yet CD Projekt Red believes it can do better in the sequel.

Speaking in a recent interview, CD Projekt Red’s narrative director Philipp Weber spoke of wanting the paths we take, aka Lifepaths, to “matter more”.

“I do think that there are things with, for example, the Lifepaths, that kind of gives you a promise as being able to play more different kinds of characters. I think this is a thing where, in the future, that's, as an example, something we would like to improve,” Weber explained.

Lifepaths might not be the only way the sequel will change it up, as the devs have also hinted at the possibility of opting for a third-person perspective like in The Witcher. Still, at this stage, such possibilities are just that: possible but not guaranteed.

Seeing as the devs are now working hard on the next Witcher game, it seems like any Cyberpunk sequel won’t begin production until at least 2024, and even then, we’re not sure of the kind of timeframe it will take in regards to a release date.

But our hopes for the sequel are undoubtedly high.
