While Far Cry 6 was a decent entry in the series, it couldn’t quite live up to the games that came before it, though fans now believe it received way more hate than it deserved, and I’d be inclined to agree. It did manage to turn some heads shortly after its release though, following a DLC expansion that featured a secret ending that sets up some exciting developments for the series going forward.

Now, it seems Far Cry 7’s development is in full swing at Ubisoft, as the company is now advertising jobs to work on the next game in the series specifically jobs for Ubisoft Toronto.

The job calls for a Production Manager (World) for a “Far Cry Project” and while it does explicitly say Far Cry 7, it’s pretty obvious what it is, unless it’s some kind of spin-off title.

The real question is what could the new game feature? Far Cry games have been synonymous with two things, incredible open-world locations, and famous faces lent their voices and likeness to an antagonist role. So far we’ve seen actors like Michael Mando, Troy Baker and Giancarlo Esposito become villains in the Far Cry world, so it’s more than likely we’ll see another celebrity take up arms in the next game.

From the little we know about the upcoming release, there is insider information that claims the next game will make the bold move of including a non-linear story. Instead of the protagonist being dropped into hostile territory and having to reclaim it alongside some form of resistance, the next game will reportedly follow the character attempting to rescue their family who’s been taken hostage.

Take that with a pinch of salt as Ubisoft is yet to confirm anything at the time of writing.

When it releases, Far Cry 7 will likely launch for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
