GTA 6 fans pledge to boycott GTA Online in wake of cancellations

Another day, another group of GTA fans are unhappy

It’s a new day, and with this new day comes another tale of GTA 6 fans getting the hump over a leak. Only this time, their annoyance is so strong that there are talks of boycotting.

Not that any of them would boycott the upcoming GTA VI, but they are boycotting GTA Online. The reason? A recent GTA V source code leak has revealed numerous pieces of scrapped content, most notably being Bully 2.

As any Rockstar Games fan worth their salt will know, a sequel to Bully has been in high demand for years now, so, undoubtedly, proof that it was canned is going to upset a lot of gamers.

Not only was Bully 2 given the chop, but so too was a string of GTA 5 DLC, as well as GTA Tokyo and Agent. Still, whilst it’s sad to see so much potential lost to the cutting room floor, it still isn’t obvious why fans are targeting GTA Online; it’s because many fans believe it’s the reason for such heavy losses.

Some claim that, due to its success, GTA Online diverted Rockstar’s attention to enhancing content there, leaving other ideas forgotten and thrown away. Believe us when we say that the fandom is incredibly ticked off about this, with one gamer saying that their “blood is boiling” over the matter.

The same fan – or should we say ex-fan – promised that Rockstar would “suffer for this”, a threat that’s hardly menacing considering the devs probably haven’t even registered that this fan exists. But nothing is so passionate as a gamer scorned, so the threat has gathered momentum as others join the fray to fight for what’s been lost.

Despite many gathering metaphorical arms, there are those who are standing firm in their support of GTA. “Brother, we will have GTA VI – if I ever suffered, I don't even remember,” said one Twitter user in response to the growing sea of resentment. To that, we say: amen.
