GTA 6 DLC expansions leak online before the trailer has even launched

Grand Theft Auto VI will apparently receive several single-player DLC expansions over its lifetime.

Fans were left thoroughly disappointed when Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 received no additional single-player content after launch.

Both Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption had DLC, with the two big ones being The Ballad Of Gay Tony for GTA and the phenomenal Undead Nightmare for Red Dead Redemption.

Instead, the sequels released expansions for GTA Online and Red Dead Online respectively, introducing new weapons, vehicles, missions and more, all as free updates but with each new gameplay addition costing significantly more than the last. This was a blatant attempt to get players to buy more digital currency, a simpler option than grinding missions repeatedly for in-game cash.

With Grand Theft Auto VI on the way, with a trailer set for release in December to celebrate Rockstar Games’ 25th anniversary, fans are anticipating the game’s online mode to be just as bad, if not worse, than GTA V.

However this time around there could be DLC confirmed for the single-player side of the game, as insiders claim Rockstar is planning to release “episodic” expansions over GTA VI’s lifetime rather than one big update.

These claims come from GTA leaker Tez2, so they need to be taken with a grain of salt. Tez2 said: “It’s more of episodic content, aka expansions, than a singular SP DLC. They can do them yearly or biyearly. Which would help reduce crunch.”

It’d make sense for Rockstar to put more effort into the single-player this time around, especially since the wait for GTA VII will likely be even longer than the wait for the sixth instalment. DLC for GTA V’s story mode was planned to happen but was unfortunately cancelled in favour of supporting GTA Online.

For the time being, let's keep our attention on the base game’s release and think about DLC later, since we still haven’t had a proper look at the title at the time of writing.
