GTA 6 fans are convinced microtransactions will ruin the Online mode.

GTA 6 fans are convinced microtransactions will ruin the Online mode.

Fans believe GTA 6 will be filled to the brim with microtransactions, and are convinced it'll ruin the enjoyment of the game.

When Grand Theft Auto VI releases, it’ll feature a brand-new iteration of GTA Online, though fans are convinced it’ll be structured around Shark Codes and subscription services.

It’s no secret Grand Theft Auto V’s Online mode has been one of the key sources of Rockstar Games’ income over the past few years, with two Take-Two Interactive execs taking home a combined total of $72,350,718 this year from its microtransactions alone.

While players have the option of playing legitimately, by planning and executing heists, playing missions or grinding the in-game businesses, Shark Cards are a fast-track option, letting you afford whatever vehicles or properties you want with less time and work. It’s this pay-to-win stance that has led players to believe GTA Online is actually one of the worst things Rockstar has ever done.

Now, fans are positive Shark Cards will make a return in GTA VI’s iteration of Online, but think this time will be even worse, possibly even affecting the game’s singleplayer.

TheWidrolo made a post on Reddit saying: “I hope that GTA 6 online won't feel like a 9-5 job without buying shark cards … It would be nice if the next GTAO had jobs with better payouts and heists that don't feel like a chore.”

Fans aren’t too optimistic, with some believing it’ll be exactly the same as GTA V, and others thinking it’ll somehow be even worse, especially since the introduction of the GTA+ subscription service.

“It will be the same as GTAO in terms of microtransactions for sure”

“GTAO always felt like a second job, hope they change that”

“I don't want to sound too negative but I think this time it will even be more tailored around microtransactions and getting people into buying shark cards and subscribing to GTA+.

“I highly doubt that the next GTA Online will be enjoyable at all without investing real-life money.”

We’re still none the wiser as to when Grand Theft Auto VI will come out, but when it does it’ll launch on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and possibly PC.
