Invincible video game officially announced by Ubisoft

Invincible video game officially announced by Ubisoft

It's about time.

It’s official - Ubisoft is working on an Invincible video game, and it’s going to be releasing “soon”.

Let’s face it, Invincible has been long overdue its own game. For those unfamiliar, the Skybound Entertainment comic series began all the way back in 2003 and ran until 2018, before it eventually got a spectacular animated TV adaptation for Prime Video in 2021. Both the comics and TV series follow the story of Mark Grayson - the son of the world’s most powerful superhero, Omni-Man - as he comes to terms with his newly developing superpowers. The show in particular is surprisingly gory, but the high-intensity action scenes have had fans begging for a video game adaptation for years. Well, it’s finally here.

Take a look at the trailer for Invincible: Guarding the Globe right here.

Now, admittedly, Guarding the Globe might not be the game that everyone was hoping for - it’s a free-to-play, idle squad RPG coming to mobile devices, so don’t expect it to be anything like Marvel’s Spider-Man or its upcoming sequel.

As revealed in Ubisoft's official announcement post, Guarding the Globe will include a totally original storyline set within the Invincible universe, which is great news for fans. Players will need to recruit familiar faces, such as Invincible himself and Atom Eve, to fight against an army of evil clones. You can select a squad of five characters, comprised of attackers, defenders and supporters, and fight to complete daily and weekly tasks.

“It's been so exciting watching the Invincible universe evolve from comic book to TV series, and now to a video game,” said Robert Kirkman, Skybound’s chairman and chief creative officer and the creator of Invincible. “Invincible being a multi-hero narrative, I love that we've made the game into a multiplayer RPG and that you can fight numerous battles simultaneously. Ubisoft did an incredible job seamlessly recreating Invincible for the small screen.”

Invincible: Guarding the Globe will release "soon" on iOS and Android, but it's not known exactly when that'll be.
