Even though a lot of our love for Mass Effect comes from that initial playthrough, the action and adventuring doesn’t stop just because the games have. There’s a whole world of lore out there some of you are missing out on.
A Mass Effect fan took to Reddit to ask if they should bother trying one of the many ME comics that they keep seeing. We’re amazed they’ve resisted temptation this long – We caved pretty early on.
Although some may deem the question a silly one, most of the responses were helpful nuggets of advice to guide both the OP and you to the very best of ME martials. “If you like the series, and have the money, they're worth a shot. They won't be winning any awards outside of the ME fandom though,” explained a fan. “I guess that's the point though, it's intended for fans, and it does flesh out some areas where details are a little light.”

What will the next Mass Effect bring?
Not exactly a ringing endorsement, but it’s an honest one. Others had more specific recommendations to offer the OP, pertaining Mass effect: Foundations. “I recommend Mass Effect Foundations since it deals with a lot of backstory of your ME2 and some ME1 companions. I enjoyed Mass Effect Homeworlds since it have prequels for Tali, James and Garrus... and one chapter of Liara bridging ME2 and ME3.”
In short, Mass Effect: Foundations is essential reading for fans wanting to deep dive into the series outside of the games.

Just like their video game counterparts, these stories are flawed, and aren’t always satisfying. But arguably this is part of their charm. BioWare has created such an engaging world for us to explore, one that’s far from being exhausted – why limit ourselves to only journeying through a minute section of it?
Besides, we need a way to fill the gaping void while we endure the endless wait until Mass Effect 5.
