Super Mario fans finally know who’ll be putting on the moustache as the Nintendo mascot’s new voice, as the voice actor recently revealed himself.
It’s been an exciting time for Nintendo and Super Mario fans. Not only are there rumours of a new Nintendo console on the horizon, possibly a Nintendo Switch 2, but there are plenty of incredible games on the way for the company’s current hardware.

Easily the most anticipated title is Super Mario Bros. Wonder, a new 2D platformer that gives the series a complete overhaul in terms of graphics and gameplay.

Boasting a jaw-dropping art style, a fresh spin of the gameplay through the level-changing Wonder Flowers, and all-new powerups/characters, it’s shaping up to be a blast for new and old Mario fans alike. We only have one question… does Elephant Mario have fingers?
Aside from the fresh coat of paint, Mario’s vocal cords have gone through a change, as Charles Martinet, who’s voiced the character for around 32 years, recently stepped down, paving the way for a new voice actor to take his place.
After weeks of speculation, with some fans believing they’d found the replacement only to be mistaken the hunt is finally over, as Mario’s new voice actor has stepped into the light and confirmed they’ll be taking the keys to the Mushroom Kingdom.
Mario’s voice now belongs to Kevin Afghani, a pretty new face on the voice acting scene, whose biggest roles so far have been characters from Genshin Impact, and even some Nintendo Switch advert voiceovers.

Afghani confirmed the news via their Twitter account, saying: “Incredibly proud to have voiced Mario and Luigi in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Thanks to Nintendo for inviting me into the Flower Kingdom!”
Fans welcomed the new voice of the series in the replies, congratulating Afghani on the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and being excited to see more of his performances in the future.

Afghani’s first role as Mario and Luigi will be in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, which launches on 20 October for Nintendo Switch.
