Batman: Arkham Knight has been remastered with graphics mods, and still looks better than most of the games that came out last year.
When bring up games that were ahead of their time, my mind always wanders to Batman: Arkham Knight. Rocksteady’s final chapter in the Arkham trilogy is often looked back on a legendary, despite some initial criticism about the Batmobile segments, which I don’t think are nearly as bad as people make them out to be.

However where it was really ahead of its time was how it looked. Gotham City was an open world that still looks better than most new releases, especially in terms of lighting effects.

Since the game released on PC, the graphics can be made even better with the power of mods, the topic of today’s discussion.
The YouTube channel Digital Dreams has shared a video of Batman: Arkham Knight running the latest and greatest in graphics enhancements. Using an RTX4090, the game can be pushed to extreme settings that grant it resolution, texture and framerate upgrades, as well as some raytracing for good measure.
The results are what you’d expect, a visual feast that somehow makes the atmosphere of Gotham City even more impressive than Rocksteady’s best efforts. The flashes of lightning and the heavy rain on the highest settings possible are immaculate, making it the best way to play if you want to feel immersed.
Despite its popularity, Batman: Arkham Knight is yet to receive an official upgrade for new-gen consoles. The game did recently release on Nintendo Switch for the first time, with questionable results I might add, so hopefully now it’s available for every platform Rocksteady might move forward with next-gen update.

In the meantime the next Rocksteady game will take the Arkhamverse to Metropolis, where villains will become heroes in Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, releasing later this month.
