Epic Games Store revives controversial RPG that was pulled from Steam

Despite a year of legal battles and its subsequent removal from Steam, one dungeon-crawling title is set to find a home on the Epic Games Store.

After being accused of stealing assets from a scrapped Nexon project in 2023, Dark and Darker developers Ironmace were forced to remove its dungeon-crawling multiplayer title from the Steam storefront. Since then, the game has only been available to download on the official website or via the Steam competitor, Chaf Games.

However, it seems as though there is a light at the end of the tunnel for Ironmace after the developers recently announced that Dark and Darker would be heading to the Epic Games Store.

A free Sand Land demo is available now on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.

“With increased confidence in the quality of our game, we have started preparations on introducing Dark and Darker to a wider audience,” announced Ironmance CEO Terence Park Seung-ha. “As a first step, we are happy to announce the launch of the Dark and Darker store page on the Epic Games Store. This is a big preparatory step for us in our journey to deliver a polished product to our fans.”

Although he does not mention the ongoing lawsuit with Nexus which started when the latter accused Ironmace developers of stealing assets from its scrapped game P3’ it is clear that the team is excited for a wider audience to access the game. Ironmance denies the use of any stolen assets but with the case still ongoing, it remains to be seen what happens.

For now, Dark and Darker is ‘coming soon’ to the Epic Games Store after it was removed from Steam over a year ago. The dungeon-crawler RPG sees you band together with friends to “use your courage, wits and cunning to uncover mythical treasures and defeat gruesome monsters.”
