With eight years having passed since Fallout 4 was released, it’s safe to say that players have run out of content. However, Red Scare is a chance to experience a brand-new story for the game.
Fallout 4 was released in 2015 and was the fourth main game in the Fallout series, an RPG set in a post-apocalyptic setting. Despite not being the highest rated in the franchise, it was still a hit for Bethesda who followed it up with 2018's Fallout 76. After a recent update that revealed we may not see Fallout 5 until 2030, we have quite the wait until we can become the Sole Survivor again.

However, thanks to one modder, we can experience a brand-new original story within Fallout 4. The mod, titled Red Scare, adds a quest to the Concord area of the in-game map. Once activated, the quest will involve the Sole Survivor meeting a ghoul named Michael Eckert who you can find in the backyard of his pre-war home. After telling you the story of his father who abandoned the family, you will need to uncover the mystery of his disappearance.

With the hidden shelter behind the family home seemingly hiding all the answers, you must explore the depths whilst fighting through the raider-infested Hardware and Lumber store. “Open the mysterious underground shelter and uncover the troubled story of father, businessman, extreme-nationalist, anti-communist, and severely paranoid, Amos Eckert,” reads the mod synopsis.
This is one of many quest mods you can find available on Nexus Mods and thanks to them, your experience with Fallout 4 may just last you until 2030. Until then, Fallout 76: Atlantic City is set to launch later this year. With interactive casinos, new factions, missions and more, it will be the second expansion for Fallout 76 after The Pitt which was released last September.
