Final Fantasy X Unreal Engine 5 remake is all we've ever wanted

Final Fantasy X Unreal Engine 5 remake is all we've ever wanted

One fan has remade a selection of Final Fantasy X levels in Unreal Engine 5, and the end result is stunning.

One fan has redesigned Final Fantasy X in Unreal Engine 5, and the end result is positively stunning. Oh what a delightful nostalgia dive.

Final Fantasy X released on the PlayStation 2, all the way back in 2001. Set in the world of Spira, the game saw players assume the role of Tidus who finds himself hunting a monster known as Sin after it attacks his home of Zanarkand. Tidus, of course, doesn’t tackle this task alone with the game offering up a great supporting cast. Following the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth, it’s worth raising the discussion of which Final Fantasy entries we might see remade next. Final Fantasy X is certainly a great shout.

Take a look at our review of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth below.

We may not have an official Final Fantasy X remake, but one creator has taken matters into their own hands. YouTuber Elusive Panda has undertaken reimagining the game in Unreal Engine 5. Unfortunately, it’s not a full playable release but it is still undoubtedly wonderful to see some of our favourite levels brought to life once more with modern graphics. Take a look at the project in action below.

“As a huge FFX fan, dude this is INCREDIBLE. You really made the world of Spira feel more alive,” wrote one viewer, while another added, “Awesome work man. The nostalgia I get from this game is unreal.” One comment read, “Absolutely stellar work! Probably my favourite game of all time, and seeing it like this makes me wish there was a remade version that was up to modern graphics standards. Square will have a high bar to climb over to match or exceed the quality and passion of your work if they ever want to do a remake of FFX.”

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look as if Elusive Panda is set to expand the project but it’s an exciting ‘what if’ mock up of what could be.
