Star Citizen is free to play for a limited time

Star Citizen is one of the most expensive crowdfunded games of all time, but you can now play it for free, for a limited time.

After 10 years in alpha and being crowdfunded, the game still isn't finished. After $600 millions of funding, the game still isn't finished ... you get the idea. But you can play Star Citizen now and decide if it deserves even more funding.

Star Citizen is one of the most-anticipated games for a long time.

Star Citizen is going to be completely free to try out from 17 to 30 November for the 2023 Intergalactic Aerospace Expo. During this time, players will be able to try out various aspects of the game, including sampling over 100 ships to head out and explore the stars.

All you need to do is set up a Star Citizen account and you will immediately receive 5000 in-game credits to spend as you see fit. Once you've set up your account, download the game client and get ready to play. It seems that during this time, while there are some discounts on in-game content, there are no current referral codes available; the base game is available for $40.

Star Citizen is often making headlines as the game moves very slowly through its development schedule. As of recent communications, much of the base game, including mission threads and core story are complete, but many remain sceptical that it will ever reach a finishing line and release as a complete product.

This doesn't stop people from still backing the PC exclusive project because it's an enticing game in theory, with a huge universe to explore, PvP modes, missions to complete, cargo to haul, and hundreds of ships to pilot. Whether it's worth the $600 million in funding is up to you and at least you can try out some of the core features for yourself.
