Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is just around the corner, coming to PlayStation 5 on 29 February and will carry on the adventures of Cloud and the gang. It’s understandable that this one is going to be a big download, so it’s worth knowing ahead of time how long your PlayStation 5 will be downloading the game.
You should probably start deleting games from your SSD now, because Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is going to weigh in at 145GB. That’s a heck of a lot of space to take up on your PlayStation 5.

We’re now at a point in gaming where these big hitters are always going to clock in with substantial file sizes. This generation, with it’s glorious graphics, epic stories, and monumental soundtracks, is going to continue in scope, but it will be crippling for our storage. It’s no surprise that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a chunky one, this is the trilogy finally stepping out into a proper open-world and is filled with gorgeous cutscenes.

It might be worth firing up your PlayStation 5 sooner rather than later and start deleting older games. Don’t forget to tell others in your house that your internet will crawl at a snails pace on launch day, too.
Hopefully we’ll start to see some improvements in file compressions and console storage options; if you’re a Call of Duty fan who loves a bit of Final Fantasy, your PlayStation 5 SSD is going to seriously feel the pressure.
