The Last Of Us Part 3 accidentally confirmed by Naughty Dog boss, it seems

Well, I thank you heartily Neil Druckmann. He may have just teased that The Last of Us Part III is in the works at Naughty Dog.

While it’s assumed that The Last of Us Part III will eventually happen, given Part II’s immense commercial and critical success, it’s yet to be formally announced or confirmed by Naughty Dog. We do know that the studio is working on a single-player game which was revealed to soften the blow that The Last of Us multiplayer game is “on ice”. We also know that Druckmann is set to write and direct an upcoming game and as the creator of The Last of Us, I’d be shocked if it wasn’t Part III. Druckmann also happens to be the head of creative and co-president of Naughty Dog, so it’s not as if he can’t give himself the greenlight on the project. Well, fans think Druckmann may have just let confirmation of Part III’s existence slip.

While we await season two of HBO’s TV adaptation, why not relive the magic of the first season?

Gustavo Santaolalla, the composer of the franchise’s music, is being honoured by the Latin Grammys with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Reacting to the news, Druckmann tweeted, “Congrats, maestro! What an incredible body of work! (But keep in mind ... We have a lot more collaboration ahead of us!)” Ahead of us, you say? Well, that’s very interesting indeed.

Santaolalla worked with Druckmann and Craig Mazin on adapting The Last of Us’ score for the HBO series so naturally, it's assumed he’ll return to work on the second season. Druckmann did say “a lot more collaboration” though which insinuates more than one project. You can see why fans quickly assumed that this meant The Last of Us Part III.

We are certainly overdue some announcements from PlayStation’s first party studios. We’re totally in the dark with regards to what’s next in the release schedule for Naughty Dog, Bend Studio, Sucker Punch, and Santa Monica Studio just to name a few. Will more be unveiled at The Game Awards, or should we pin our hopes on a future PlayStation Showcase? That awaits to be seen but it’s clear that Druckmann is cooking up something.
