It almost felt like we’d never get Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 due to all the hype around its release. The build-up to the latest PlayStation 5 exclusive felt excruciatingly slow, but it’s finally here and it’s a masterpiece, becoming one of the fastest-selling PlayStation games ever made.

If you haven’t checked it out yet, what have you been doing? Take a look at the latest trailer below.

While the story has been universally praised by fans and critics alike, many have been loving the expanded open world, which has exceeded the Manhattan limit of Marvel’s Spider-Man, and now allows Peter and Miles to venture out to Brooklyn and Queens.

Zipping through the streets with the new web wings, or launching yourself past skyscrapers with slingshots has completely changed traversal, impressing players with just how much faster everything is.

However, many players have taken the time to stop and take in the scenery, whether it be perching atop the Empire State Building for the view, checking out Coney Island, or just taking in the New York skyline as you're beating up thugs.

The game’s spectacular visuals were praised in a post by RandomAccessMemoriez, who thought it was “incredible how far video games have come,” and I think we’re all there with them.

People in the comments certainly were, who had plenty of nice things to say about Insomniac’s latest masterpiece, as well as the industry in general, especially considering games used to be 8/16-bit at one point. “Games have come so far from when I first l started playing on SEGA Genesis. The real question is how far CAN they go," one comment read. “Yeah holy smokes, I remember when I thought that nothing would beat Oblivion’s graphics haha," read another.

It’s only going to get more advanced from here, especially as more games leave old-gen consoles behind, and as newer, even more powerful consoles get released.
