PlayStation 5 gamers told to change one setting to avoid console's worst issue

PlayStation 5 gamers told to change one setting to avoid console's worst issue

This is one of those changes you'll really want to remember, trust us on this

There’s a lot to love about the PlayStation 5, despite what Xbox fans will claim. However, it’s not without its faults. Oftentimes, its issues are quality of life features that either haven’t been included or are considerably lacking; the worst issue we speak of today is the latter.

Still, it’s a troubling, persistent issue for many that stops gamers in their tracks, their games installing on an endless loop. When this happens, we typically assume that we’ll be forever frozen, having to suffer as we watch yet another game never properly instal, but that isn’t the case.

Throwing it back to the PS4 launch trailer for The Last Guardian

One tip that can save you from agony has been shared online, after a gamer’s patience was tested to its limit when their The Last of Us Part II Remastered was stuck “redownloading”. Seeing as we hailed this game as “perfection deserving of a victory lap”, we’re horrified at facing another day without being able to play.

Apparently, the issue arises from pausing the download. If you do that, which seems like the obvious choice, you’ll end up with the game stuck on pause indefinitely and unable to continue installation when using the disc.

But, if you delete it instead, it will simply restart installation, seemingly avoiding the dreaded indefinite installation of death (like the spinny wheel of death, only worse).

Gamers also suggested that PS5 players should check what version of the game the system is trying to instal – the PS4 or PS5 – when a disc is involved. It’s such a ridiculous problem, yet one Sony has yet to rectify. “They seriously need to address this,” commented one frustrated player. “The one thing Xbox does right is smart delivery.”

You know the problem must be bad if PS players are willing to praise Xbox, albeit in a backhanded way. Regardless, at least we all know what to do the next time we’re stuck in a loop that has us seriously questioning if we’re in a real life version of P.T (minus the ghosties).
