Excitement surrounding the PlayStation 5 Pro is already starting to dwindle, as industry professionals deem it unnecessary.
It’s been rumoured for a while now that Sony plans on releasing an enhanced version of the PlayStation 5 called the PlayStation 5 Pro.
This would be the second console revision the PlayStation 5 has received so far, the first being the PS5 Slim which you can see below
While not being comparable to the also rumoured PlayStation 6, the PS5 Pro is said to be vastly more powerful to the base PS5, with greater processing power and more features at a slightly higher price.

Alongside Sony’s console plans it’s also said that Xbox will be releasing a new variant of the Xbox Series X, an all-digital version that’ll release alongside a controller oddly reminiscent of a PlayStation DualSense controller.
Both consoles are rumoured to be announced later this year, potentially over the Summer, with a planned launch just before the end of 2024.
Unfortunately Sony’s next console is already off to a rough start, as several game developers have reportedly confessed that they’re not impressed with the console, and are unsure why it exists in the first place.
GamesIndustry.biz editor Christopher Dring recently appeared on a podcast following GDC, and said when asking developers about the PS5 Pro, they “didn’t meet a single person that understood the point of it.”

They went on to say “developers didn’t seem to feel they needed it,” as they “weren’t really making the most of the PS5 in the first place.”
Many people, players and developers alike, believe the current console generation that kicked off with the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 hasn’t really gone anywhere.
While some impressive games have been released so far, many say that there's not enough to warrant moving onto another generation.
