PlayStation 5 update adds feature we've been asking for since launch

PlayStation 5 update adds feature we've been asking for since launch

This update will make life better for so many, we're not going to lie

PlayStation 5 is getting a much requested feature that will vastly improve gamers’ experience, which has us wondering why it’s taken so long to get this feature.

We know we keep saying it, but PlayStation is having a merry ol’ time compared to Xbox, with the latest PS6 leak revealing that its stats will far exceed Microsoft’s next console. However, before we get carried away by the prospects of Sony’s future, we need to focus on the PS5 and a new feature that’s being added that will finally give us an easier life.

Anyone else excited to play Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden?

It sounds dramatic, but the brightness of the power indicator has long bugged players, with countless demands for a brightness setting to be introduced having seemingly fallen on deaf ears. Until now, that is.

The new Sony update will see the option to alter brightness between bright, medium, and dim, with bright being the default setting. As someone who has light sensitive eyes, I welcome being able to avoid the blinding light of my console glaring at me.

Such a small feature but it’ll undoubtedly make such a big difference, leaving some wondering why it wasn’t introduced before now. After all, it’s not like it would have taken more for Sony to have implemented it sooner, but at least it’s making up for its past mistakes now. What is more, the Xbox Series has had this feature since launch, and it doesn’t put out nearly as much light as the PS5.

Hopefully, now that the PS5 has this quality-of-life improvement, it’ll stick around for the future for the PS6 and beyond. Given the importance of accessibility features, we certainly hope that this is the case.

With so much speculation swirling around in the games community, being able to have something that’s a fixed point to focus on is a welcome change of pace. How long it’ll last, though, is anyone’s guess.
