PlayStation Plus free download is The Last Of Us meets The Witcher 3

PlayStation Plus gamers should check out this harrowing mix of The Last Of Us and The Witcher 3

I don't know about you, but I prefer my video games to offer me some feel-good harmless escapism. That's not to say I don't like to be challenged or emotionally scarred (Dark Souls 3 is good for both), but I err towards the good vibes.

Reader, this PlayStation Plus free download is anything but good vibes. It combines the misery and familial bonds of The Last Of Us with the misery and fantasy elements of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Check it out below!

A Plague Tale: Requiem is a miserable game. Don't get me wrong, it's also absolutely fantastic! But it is the video game equivalent of being punched in the stomach while being read out a list of bad things everyone has ever said about you behind your back.

This is, as you may know, a sequel to A Plague Tale: Innocence, which was also about as fun as nobody showing up to your Birthday party. Requiem is a stunning-looking survival horror in which you and your sibling fight to stay alive in 1939 Provence.

In our review at the time we gave the game a very worthy 9/10. "It’s an amazing example of how a game can balance both the light and the dark; the majesty and the horror of the world in this time period," we wrote. "The path that lies ahead for these two children who suffer with the weight of the world on their shoulders should sound like a done deal, but you’re chewing your nails to stubs while worrying over the fate of their few friends and praying that there is a life for them yet."

If you're interested, PlayStation Plus subscribers with the top-tier Premium membership can currently download and play the first two hours of A Plague Tale: Requiem via the Trials perk. Believe me when I say the first two hours of this game is enough to help you decide if it's too dark to continue. But if it gets its hooks in you? You'll be coming back for me.
