PlayStation Plus free game is one of the biggest open world titles ever made

You may not have realised but PlayStation Plus just added one of the biggest open-world games in existence to its extra tier which means, yes, you can enjoy it now.

It’s not been a bad start to the year for Sony’s subscription service. PlayStation Plus’ essential tier subscribers can currently grab A Plague Tale: Requiem, Evil West, and Nobody Saves The World, while extra and premium tier subscribers have gained a collective 14 new additions. Highlights include Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, Resident Evil 2, Session: Skate Sim, and Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong. The game that I want to draw your attention to though is Just Cause 3.

Foamstars will land on PlayStation Plus as a day one release on 6 February.

Just Cause 3 sees protagonist Rico Rodriguez return to his home island of Medici, which is now under the control of the dictator General Sebastiano Di Ravello. I wouldn’t say that narratively it’s the strongest Just Cause entry but it does feature some high-octane blockbuster action and an absolute whopper of an open-world.

GameRant previously ranked games by the size of their open-world and Just Cause 3 came in at 16th, boasting a map that spreads across 396 square miles. It sat behind Test Drive Unlimited 2, Final Fantasy XV, Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, The Crew, Fuel, Guild Wars Nightfall, Atlas, The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Minecraft, Star Control 2: The Ur-Quan Masters, Starfield, Spore, Elite Dangerous, and No Man’s Sky.

Don’t be too daunted though. According to HowLongToBeat, it should only take around 18.5 hours for you to roll credits on Just Cause 3. If you choose to factor in side quests too, you’re looking at just over 39 hours. For full completion, the total is closer to 66 hours. If you do happen to be looking for a temporary time sink, Just Cause 3 could be the game for you.
