PlayStation Plus free games lineup for April is already dividing players

That’s a balancing ebb and flow to PlayStation Plus. Whilst every month brings us new additions to the service’s various catalogues, so too does each month take games away.

It’s now been revealed that PlayStation Plus’ extra and premium tiers will be losing a collective 11 games in April.

These titles are Bassmaster Fishing 2022, Chicken Police - Paint It RED, Dangerous Golf, Everspace, Fighting EX Layer, Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered, Gunvolt Chronicles Luminous Avenger IX, Necromunda: Underhive Wars, Reel Fishing: Road Trip Adventure, R-Type Final 2, and SoulCalibur 6.

Admittedly, we’ve got off somewhat lightly this month. None of the aforementioned games are particularly heavy hitters but, of course, we all have varying tastes and these departures will almost certainly disappoint some players.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns recently joined the extra tier, available for subscribers to enjoy now.

“Have to admit none of these were on my radar, so after last month and scrambling to finish a few, nice to breathe a sigh of relief and not feel rushed to play anything,” wrote Reddit user DG83GamingEnthusiast, echoing my own feelings.

Conversely though, VillageIdiomsClub recommended users check out Chicken Police before it departs: “Chicken Police is a fantastic noir detective story, a lot of style and dark humour. Highly recommend it if you like the genre.”

User punchingtigers19 added, “Ghostbusters is SEVERELY underrated. Great game.” Perhaps there’s some bigger losses here than many of us anticipated.

In case you missed out on what recently landed on the service, extra and premium tier subscribers can now enjoy NBA 2K24, Marvel's Midnight Suns, Resident Evil 3, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Super Neptunia RPG, Blood Bowl 3, Mystic Pillars: Remastered, and LEGO DC Supervillains, whilst premium subscribers can also enjoy Jak and Daxter The Lost Frontier, Cool Boarders, Gods Eater Burst, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy, and JoJos Bizarre Adventure AllStar Battle R.

The next essential tier line-up is set to be announced on Wednesday 27 March.
