PlayStation pulls classic exclusive from PS Store forever

PlayStation pulls classic exclusive from PS Store forever

PlayStation 4 exclusive Gran Turismo Sport has been delisted from the PlayStation Store.

Alas, it’s the end of an era for one PlayStation exclusive. Gran Turismo Sport has been delisted from the PlayStation Store, just over six years after it was released.

It first announced that Gran Turismo Sport’s online servers would be shut down back in September. “On January 31, 2024 at 06:00 UTC, the online services of the PlayStation 4 exclusive software Gran Turismo Sport will come to an end. Prior to this on December 01, 2023, we will also end the distribution of purchasable Add-On items from the PlayStation Store that can be used in-game,” read the announcement. “After the end of service date, it will no longer be possible to utilise services such as the Community, Open Lobby, and Sport Mode, nor online features/items such as custom liveries.” Rest assured though, the offline elements of the game remain playable.

Gran Turismo received a film adaptation last year. Take a look at the trailer below.

Devs said they made the decision so that they could focus on improving the latest Gran Turismo 7. There’s a bit of confusion though, as Gran Turismo Sport has been entirely delisted, whereas it was originally suggested that just DLC add-ons would be delisted alongside the taking down of the multiplayer servers. It was presumed that the game would remain available for purchase given that offline modes remain working.

Clearly though, that’s not the case as Gran Turismo Sport appears to be gone for good. That means that if you do want to pick it up from now on, to enjoy what’s left, you’ll have to hunt down a physical copy.

Admittedly, it makes sense to delist the game. It’s just odd that this wasn’t mentioned in last year’s announcement. If you are a fan of Gran Turismo Sport’s multiplayer online offering, you still have a few weeks left to enjoy. To reiterate, those servers will close on 31 January, so do enjoy this last month while you can.
