PlayStation quietly delays multiple exclusives to next year

PlayStation quietly delays multiple exclusives to next year

Major PS5 exclusives could be impacted!

The PlayStation 5 has been blessed with some fantastic exclusives since its release in November 2020, and with the promise of more exclusives to come, it’s exciting times for fans of the blue brand.

Fans have been enjoying the fruits of the PS5’s labour with gems such as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Returnal, the Demon’s Souls remake, Horizon Forbidden West expansion ‘Burning Shores’ and much more.

Check out the Marvel's Wolverine reveal trailer below!

In the coming months, we also have plenty to look forward to with the likes of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth and Baldur’s Gate III, the latter of which has become an accidental PS5 time-exclusive.

The PlayStation 5 also has plenty of other exclusives on the way, many of which without a set release date and it seems those titles may have suffered from a quiet delay by Sony.

In a recent Sony financial report, it states that the “impact of changes in the launch dates of a portion of first-party titles” has had a negative impact on its 2023 fiscal year and as a result, it means that some exclusives could be pushed back from mid-2024 to early 2025.

The exclusives impacted by the delays were not mentioned in the financial report, however, given the fact news has been very quiet for upcoming PS5 exclusives such as Stellar Blade, Death Stranding 2, the Silent Hill 2 remake and Marvel’s Wolverine, each are likely contenders to be impacted. We could probably throw Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us multiplayer game into that hat as well as its unannounced “single-player experience”.

In other PlayStation 5 news, a recent system update has beaten Xbox to the punch with a long-requested graphics feature, and a console system error has been melting USB ports!

As for what we know is on the way soon, Baldur’s Gate III will be released for PS5 on 6 September followed by Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on 20 October 2023.
