Red Dead Redemption 2 players can explore an updated Mexico from Red Dead Redemption, thanks to a new mod.
As if Red Dead Redemption 2 couldn’t get any bigger, modders have strolled along and given it a map expansion, and it’s well-worth a look.

When players first put on their cowboy hats, saddled up and set off for adventure as John Marston in the first Red Dead Redemption, they had a vast amount of US land to explore, including Mexico if you travelled far enough.

However when Red Dead Redemption 2 came out, the Mexico we knew and loved was no longer an explorable area. It is in the original game, but getting there requires glitches and exploits, and once you make the trip all you’ll find is barren, unfinished wasteland you were never meant to step foot in. Many were hoping Rockstar Games would add through a DLC expansion but unfortunately that dream was too good to be true.
Fear not though, you can download the Nuevo Paraiso - Mexico mod for free via LibertyCity and be granted access to an updated Mexico area you can explore till your heart’s content.
It’s exactly how fans will remember it too, as the modding wizards straight-up transferred the entire thing to Red Dead Redemption 2 and updated its visuals to be more in-line with the game’s graphical fidelity. It’s worth checking out, and while it’s lacking much to do since it’s not part of the main game’s story or side content, it’s still a whole new area to ride around and see some nostalgic places.
Rockstar Games’ next AAA title is GTA VI, which will be taking players back to somewhere they’ll remember fondly, Vice City. The difference this time around is it’s not the 80s paradise it once was, and its size and scale has been expanded to that of an entire US state.
