Fans are in agreement that Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell series has been dead for far too long, and desperately needs to continue with a sequel to Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
The next Splinter Cell project in the pipeline is reportedly a photorealistic remake of the first game, and while I’m thrilled Ubisoft is finally giving the series the attention it deserves, I think I can speak for the majority when I say there needs to be more.

The last time we saw an original Sam Fisher adventure was in 2013 with Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Ever since then, the beloved series has been as good as dead, aside from a few lacklustre spin-off titles and Fisher appearing in other Ubisoft series like Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six Siege.

That’s something that fans want to change, and they’ve made their expectations and desires known on Reddit.
A recent thread by blizzardmate said: “This game is LONG overdue for a sequel”, accompanied by the cover art of Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
While it may not be everyone’s favourite entry in the series, due to many rightly preferring the perfection that is Splinter Cell: Chao Theory, it was a solid title and showcased what a current-gen Splinter Cell could look like. Fans agreed that the series is long overdue for a revival, whether it be a direct sequel, or a soft reboot started by the upcoming remake.

Honestly, a full revival with the original stealth gameplay, modern visuals, and the legendary Michael Ironside reprising his role as Sam Fisher would be an elite comeback for the series. Whether Ubisoft has plans to do more Splinter Cells after the remake drops is another question though…
