Starfield is playable on Xbox right now for a select number of people

Starfield is weeks away from its launch in September, and some Xbox players have been spotted playing the game early.

After years of development, Bethesda’s space-exploration game, Starfield, is almost ready to launch on Xbox Series X/S and PC, though some players have seemingly been playing the game before its official release.

Since brand new gameplay was revealed during last month’s Xbox and Bethesda Showcase, the Starfield hype train has been barrelling towards its September release date at awesome speed. Fans were blown away by the concept of exploring over 1,000 planets, meeting the locals in enormous cities like New Atlantis, and travelling the galaxy in a ship you can build yourself.

Now, fans young and old are patiently counting down the days till they can start their intergalactic adventure, with some planning to take the week off work, as well as buying their first Xbox Series X consoles just so they can have a go at the game.

However, it appears that some Xbox users have been playing the game early, exposed by a recent Reddit thread by cyberRakan. The post read: “Phil Spencer & Pete Hines are playing Starfield on Xbox” and sure enough it revealed the Xbox executives have been playing an early build of the game, the lucky buggers.

Whether or not it’s a finished build of the game remains a mystery, as there’s likely still a few bugs and glitches to iron out before the official release, which promises to have fewer bugs than any Bethesda title to date.

While it does sting a bit to see other people playing the game before anyone else, at least there’s not long to go before we can all get our hands on Starfield. Fans have a few offers to choose from too, as Starfield will be included as a free download with AMD CPUs, as well as Xbox Game Pass, a month of which can be grabbed for just £1 right now.

Starfield launches on 6th September, exclusively for Xbox Series X/S and PC, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass.
