If you’re a fan of robots and androids, Detroit: Become Human could be the game for you, and you can play it for free on Steam right now.

Detroit: Become Human was a PlayStation 4 exclusive released in 2018 and while it has remained exclusive to Sony’s console ever since it did receive a PC port in 2019.

Take a look at the trailer for Detroit: Become Human below

Players take on the role of several androids in a dystopian future, sort of like Cyberpunk 2077 but a bit more like Bladerunner 2049. Each character has their own separate stories tackling criminal and political themes. Gameplay revolves around interacting with the environment and people, whilst making decisions for actions and dialogue that change how the story plays out.

It was critically acclaimed on release and remains one of the best PlayStation exclusives, especially for fans of narrative-driven stories like Heavy Rain, which was made by the same developer Quantic Dream.

If the above description of the game or the trailer piqued your interest, you’re in luck. If you log onto Steam you’ll find Detroit: Become Human can be played for free via a demo, giving you a taste of what the game is like should you wish to pay for the full experience.

That being said if you own a PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 and are also subscribed to PlayStation Plus Extra or higher, you can play the full game at no additional cost as part of your subscription.

It’s well worth a go, as the story is top notch and the performances for some of the characters are nothing short of extraordinary, especially Bryan Dechart who steals the show as the android negotiator Connor.

Detroit: Become Human is available on Steam now with a free demo, as well as the PlayStation store to buy or play for free via PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium.
