Steam's new free game is one I could play forever

Steam's new free game, Captain Contraption's Chocolate Factory, is one I could play forever.

If you have ever wondered what it would be like to visit Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory (without the death) then you can live out the experience in a new free Steam game.

The puzzle game, titled Captain Contraption's Chocolate Factory, tasks players with creating and building your very own machines capable of making a large variety of chocolates. By combining ingredients and setting up a successful production line, you will be able to create ingenious and delicious concoctions.

Developed by Pill Bug Interactive, Captain Contraption's Chocolate Factory will also feature some complex puzzles which will need to be solved in order for your contraptions to become automated. Using a simple set of tools, create machines to automate the production of Captain Contraption’s chocolates,” reads the official Steam synopsis. “Launch some nuts into melted chocolate to make your favourite snack, smash caramel against a wall to make bite size bits, and crank-up the E numbers by adding food colouring to everything. Each puzzle has as many solutions as you have ideas.”

Physics fans out there will also appreciate the game’s attention to detail when creating your machines – if it wouldn’t work in real life, it wouldn’t work in-game. If you want even more of a challenge, you will be able to create your own puzzles using the level editor. “With Steam Workshop support included at launch it will be easy to share your puzzles with friends and the community. Compare the efficiency and complexity of your contraptions and solutions to other players with a leaderboard for every level.”

Captain Contraption's Chocolate Factory is set to be released between April and June 2024 but is available to wishlist on Steam. Additionally, you can check out the free demo now to get a taste for chocolate-making fun before it is released fully next year. This is one of hundreds of game demos available to try out courtesy of the current Steam Next Fest.
