Insider information says Xbox is gearing up for another hardware reveal later this year, that’ll shed some light on last year’s FCC leaks.
For those who were paying attention to last year’s Microsoft V FCC trial, the company was battling to complete the Xbox acquisition of Activision-Blizzard. While victory was eventually achieved it came at a cost as several leaks were shared online.

Amongst these leaks was a brand-new Xbox controller with a similar design to the PlayStation 5’s DualSense. In terms of physical design it looked pretty much the same as all Xbox controllers, but internally it boasted haptic feedback, an internal battery, speakers and several other improvements.

A new Xbox console with a frankly wild design was also shown, but it’s the controller we’re focussing on today.
Many speculated the controller would launch later this year, but Xbox is yet to confirm or deny it even exists. That will apparently change in the next few months, as industry insider Tom Warren has said an official reveal is planned for Summer. Speaking through messages on the XboxEra Podcast, Warren said the “new Xbox Controller is supposed to be announced in May, ahead of the June showcase,” before confirming “that was in the FCC doc leak, and I don't believe that's changed.”
Of course you should take this news with a pinch of salt, as absolutely nothing is confirmed until Xbox itself says it is. That being said it’d be a smart move for the company, as PlayStation’s DualSense controllers are incredibly popular and it’d be nice to have an Xbox controller that doesn’t require batteries for once.

All we can do now is wait and see what’s announced. May is still several months away so a lot could change, but if Xbox is to make any hardware announcements it’d undoubtedly be near Summer so it can be part of the Xbox Showcase.
