Starfield fans want Bethesda’s next IP to swap soaring through the stars for sailing across the seas with a pirate adventure.

Starfield fans want Bethesda’s next IP to swap soaring through the stars for sailing across the seas with a pirate adventure.

Starfield has been a phenomenal success so far for Bethesda, amassing two million players from its early access release alone, as well as raking in plenty of positive reviews from critics.

Starfield is available right now! Check out our review below.

Despite a few complaints about how disappointing the game’s galaxy exploration actually is, fans have loved exploring all the planets and devoting hours to the main story and side content.

Given how much content is in the base game, as well as all the mods being developed and potentially some DLC expansions, fans are buckling in for what will likely be years of space-faring gameplay. That being said, many are now looking ahead to the next games in Bethesda’s release schedule, The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5, though some are hoping for brand new IPs as well.

One fan on Reddit, going by the username Tnecniw, created a post talking about how great it’d be if Bethesda were to make a new IP about the pirate’s life. They said: “Is it just me that thinks it is such a waste that we have no PROPERLY good pirate RPG? Now with Starfield existing as it does. I can't help but imagine the same thing, but with a pirate theme … I just want something that scratches that particular itch, but nothing really manages and it is so frustrating.”

Other fans agreed, many of which are hoping a studio that specialises in open-world gaming like Bethesda or Rockstar Games could develop a full pirate experience, possibly drawing inspiration from existing titles like Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

“After what Rockstar achieved with the Guarma level in Red Dead 2, I'd personally love a Rockstar pirate game with all the RPG elements op said and all the amazing stuff Black Flag had," read one comment. “Honestly that’s what I thought Skull and Bones was going to be," added another.

While it’d be cool to see another new Bethesda IP, it’s more than likely the studio will be taking the next few years to focus on its existing series, namely The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and now Starfield.

Starfield is now available for Xbox Series X/S and PC, and is also included on Xbox Game Pass.
