Since the announcement that the Microsoft Rewards app will be shutting down, thousands of Xbox fans have been concerned as to where they'll get their precious points moving forward.

For those not in the know, the Microsoft Rewards app was a great way of earning points through playing games and making digital purchases, which could then be converted into Xbox store credit.

Most of the tasks came in the form of punch cards, but one of the best ways to earn was through a weekly streak that could net you thousands of points as long as you kept it going.

It was recently announced the service will be “simplified” into the Xbox Rewards Hub, and it seems the first stages of its introduction are beginning to roll out, including a new iteration of weekly streaks.

Reddit user kevinchadwick55 pointed out the official Xbox app now has a weekly bonus tab for users in Ireland, and after a quick glance at my phone I can confirm it’s also here in the UK as well.

Users can earn 275 points for playing games on the Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S for five days in a row (Monday to Friday) which is a far cry from the 2,500 points you could earn on Microsoft Rewards, but it’s better than nothing.

Fans agreed, believing more work needs to be done before the Xbox Rewards Hub is as fruitful as the previous way to earn points.

“Still less than what we used to have. So, still disappointing.”

“It's a start, hopefully more things will be added to counteract the big loss.”

“Happy I get extra points but sucks that it's a downgrade for other folks.”

That being said they’re free points just for playing games, so don’t sleep on them and grab them when you can as they all add up over time.
