Halo Infinite’s next big update brings back some of the series' most iconic multiplayer maps, for free.
Following a disastrous launch that upset basically everyone, Halo Infinite finally resembles a good Halo game after delivering on its promise of more maps, better customisation, more modes, and more stable multiplayer.

In some ways, it’s even gone beyond what it promised, with fans going as far as to say it’s in the best state it’s ever been in.

The latest update adds even more content to the game, like a free 20-tier battle pass containing loads of goodies from new armour to wear, emblems, skins and more. You can also nab the Mark V armour set, the one Master Chief wears in Halo: Combat Evolved from the item shop for added nostalgia, though the price has become a bit controversial.
Alongside customisation, the new update adds seven multiplayer maps to the game, the majority of which will make any fan of Halo 3’s heart swoon.
The updated Halo 3 maps have been lovingly recreated in the Halo Infinite style via Forge, and include Guardian, High Ground, Construct Narrows, Blackout, The Pit, and Isolation. These maps have been added to the multiplayer pool, alongside a brand-new one.
Critical Dewpoint is the seventh map to join the rota and is inspired by Halo’s continued partnership with the carbonated drink brand Mountain Dew. It boasts a glowing green aesthetic, as well as a vending machine that’ll dispense various power-ups to players during the duration of the match.

Obviously, the main appeal of the new update will be the Halo 3 maps, many of which can still be played in their original form via Halo: The Master Chief Collection, though it’ll be great to see them remastered for Halo Infinite’s sped-up gameplay.
The update is available now and will run through to 19 December.
