No one is doing it like Xbox when it comes to creating limited edition hardware. From Barbie to Porsche, we’ve seen a number of unlikely collaborations in the past couple of months.
In fact, just yesterday, I was scrolling through Twitter - or X, if we’re really calling it that - when I was greeted by the news that Xbox were creating limited edition pizza-scented controllers to celebrate the upcoming release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. The controllers each come with a built in scent diffuser. It’s fun and quirky, although I’m not sure how I’d feel about that in practice. The smell of pizza is great when you’re hungry. After a couple hours though, you might be thinking, ‘Okay, that’s enough’. Beyond TMNT, it looks as if there’ll be a Forza Motorsport collaboration according to a new leak.

As reported by Dealabs, a reliable leaker, a Forza Motorsport themed limited edition controller will seemingly launch on 8 August. It’s codenamed Project Jemez, although it’s thought that the design is actually called ‘Stormcloud Vapour’. Dealabs added that the controller will cost $69.99 but take all of this with a pinch of salt, as the controller isn’t confirmed and Dealabs note that they don’t have concrete proof. They simply know a controller is coming. The Forza crossover is simply the working theory.

Dealabs went on to note that Microsoft could also change the release date, but all signs point to a controller release on 8 August. It’s all very ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ for now, but a Forza Motorsport controller sounds like a perfectly sensical thing seeing as fellow Xbox exclusive Starfield also received a limited edition controller.
The Starfield controller is available now. It was released around two months prior to Starfield’s September launch date. If the next controller is set to launch in early August, that’s two months ahead of Forza Motorsport so the evidence certainly all fits. We’ll have to watch this space.
