Spyro The Dragon fans rejoice, our favourite purple boy might finally be returning as an Xbox exclusive.

Spyro The Dragon fans rejoice, our favourite purple boy might finally be returning as an Xbox exclusive.

It’s been years and years since Spyro The Dragon last starred in an original adventure, obviously discarding his cameo-like appearances in the odd Crash Bandicoot game and Skylanders.

Take a look at the Spyro: Reignited Trilogy below

He joins a variety of iconic characters that have rarely seen the light of day despite their popularity, such as Banjo Kazooie, Conker and Gex, yes I said Gex.

However ever since Xbox acquired Activision-Blizzard, the hope of a new Spyro game has skyrocketed, especially since Crash Bandicoot got a continuation of his original trilogy of PlayStation games.

Rumours have stated a new Spyro game is indeed in the works, and adding further credibility to that rumour a leaker has come forward and said it has officially entered production right now at the time of writing.

The news comes from Aaron “Canadian Guy Eh” who discussed the unannounced Spyro game in a recent YouTube video.

Unfortunately no real evidence was provided to back up the claim, but given the sheer popularity of the character as well as Xbox’s desire to dive into its long list of owned IPs, it’s more than likely Spyro 4 is on the horizon.

Obviously fans are reluctant to get their hopes up, and honestly I’m right there with them as we all remember how much it stung to see Spyro make his triumphant return only to be a DLC character in the now forgotten Crash Team Rumble.

Another rumour floating around the internet is Xbox is also looking to make a new Banjo-Kazooie game, which has reportedly been greenlit though it’s unclear if Rare has any involvement in the project.

With Summer quickly approaching, hopefully Xbox has some good news for us when the time comes for it to make some upcoming game announcements.
