In an incredible flex, YouTuber Miniminter ordered a PlayStation 5 with 24 karat gold plates, and the unboxing of the gloriously glittery console is a sight to behold.

Getting your hands on a PlayStation 5 right now is a Herculean task, as Sony contends with component shortages, complications from Brexit, delays due to the pandemic, and of course, scalpers. In fact, the situation is so dire that the UK government has jumped into the ring to combat the underhanded actions of opportunistic second-hand sellers. In using virtual servers that are faster than their home networks, hiding their IP address, and providing slightly different shipping addresses, scalpers are able to snap up consoles ahead of the masses so that someone playing by the rules goes without for what might be the umpteenth time. So, if you're one of these people who is twiddling their thumbs til they receive that all-important "Order Confirmed" email, then opting for a gold-plated PlayStation 5 might be the answer to your woes.

Hang on, I hear you say. These products cost £8,000. How would that solve the issue? Well, scalpers are not seeking these consoles out. The competition is practically nonexistent, and though they're limited edition, there are 250 pieces available for purchase. Plus, it comes in an 18 karat rose gold or a sleek platinum finish, if gold isn't quite your thing. Still unconvinced? Miniminter bought one of these glitzy gadgets so you can see what the finished product really looks like in person.

"This is really sick, I'm actually really gassed by this," said the YouTuber as he unpacked the product. It comes in a trunk for safety, though Miniminter's box got his logo and the Sidemen logo stamped across it for flair. What's more is that it comes with gold-plated DualSenses and headphones. "It looks like you're holding a baby," said his partner as he cradled the console in his arms wearing an astonished expression, and replied: "A baby isn't worth £8,000!" He's correct, of course. A new human being is actually worth a lot more than that.

The gold-plated PlayStation 5 is a real statement to the legacy of the console and it would be a dream to own the platinum version, personally speaking. The only problem is you wouldn't be able to touch it ever. The dust, scratches, and fingerprints would be an utter nightmare. You'd have to house it in glass like an exhibit in a museum. Worth it? Maybe.
