PlayStation 5 owners agree buying the console was worth it, 2.5 years later

They say good things come to those that wait and with the PlayStation 5 being roughly two and a half years old, how is it doing?

That has been the topic of discussion on a Reddit thread following the PlayStation 5’s release in November 2020. Granted, for nearly two years stock supplies were a major issue thanks to the semiconductor chip shortage and greedy scalpers taking all the stock to sell for grotesque profits.

Thankfully, stock supplies have been greatly improved with most having no issue acquiring Sony’s latest console, which has resulted in those greedy scalpers having to cut the prices of the consoles drastically in order to shift their stock. What a shame.

There has been a combination of ‘exclusive’ PS5 and PS4 games, and for the most part, there have been some fantastic releases since 2020 including God of War Ragnarök, Horizon Forbidden West, Demon’s Souls (remake), Returnal, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut and more.

In February this year, we’ve also seen the launch of the PlayStation VR2, but despite this VR headset being a beast in terms of specifications, it’s perhaps lacking in major, quality exclusives. Hopefully, that will change in the near future.

“I’m very happy with it. Exclusives have been great, the new PlayStation Plus is great, and the PSVR2 has been wonderful,” they continued. “Only thing that I’m disappointed with is the amount of first-party games on PSVR2 and lack of backwards compatibility on PSVR2, but overall I’m very happy with Sony and proud to own a PS5. What about you?”

“The moment Horizon, God of War [Ragnaök], and FFXVI were announced, I knew I was going to get a PS5. I have no regrets,” replied FinalFrash. “However, I do find it absurd that my PS4 Pro has more storage than my PS5.”

“Yeah bruh, I’m happy cause every time I turn on my ps5 it does NOT sound like a plane exiting the runway. 10/10 recommend,” said Prime-Riptide. “Bought PS5 at its release. I’m pretty happy about it. I have a good PC but sometimes I prefer to play games on the Sony console. Currently playing FFXVI and it’s really amazing,” added Crowzer.

Now that the PlayStation 5 is fast approaching its third birthday, it might soon be time for a newly revised console. A recent document suggested that a new Sony console is arriving later this year, so could we finally see the release of the PS5 Slim? Only time will tell.
