The modern age of consoles is a wonderful thing not only providing us with the best gaming memories but also improvements to the consoles can be made at a mere whim courtesy of a swift system update.

However, PlayStation 5 has implemented a long-awaited graphics feature, beating the Xbox Series X|S to the punch. One of the best aspects of modern gaming is cloud gaming, a feature that Xbox has certainly honed in on. Cloud gaming allows you to play video games in an instant without downloads and even allows you to play them on a compatible mobile device with an internet connection.

Yet, there’s one caveat that fans have longed for and that’s a 4K resolution on consoles when streaming. For the most part, as long as you have a good internet connection, gamers should be able to maintain a smooth framerate at a 1080p resolution. Obviously, to stream at a glorious 4K would require a more superior and stable internet connection and even then, a totally seamless experience isn't a guarantee. Well, at least for now.
That being said, Sony is now rolling out a public beta test on PS5 to stream games up to a 4K resolution. Twitter users are reporting that emails are being received inviting them to test the new cloud gaming feature on PlayStation 5.
What’s more, users on ResetEra are sharing their early experiences with the 4K cloud gaming beta test. “Got my email and invite, it gives access to the new firmware beta if you weren't already in it, but seems like it is going out to Premium members,” reported ArashiGames. “Just tested Ragnarok at 2160p quality and had no issues so far. You set the max resolution from the activity card: 720p, 1080p, 1440p, 2160p. Games seem to load your cloud saves directly.”
