Data woes.

Now that PlayStation 5 reviews are out in the wild, we're learning a lot more about Sony's next-gen console. On the whole, critics seem to agree that the PS5 is a wonderful piece of hardware with some strong launch games and an exciting future ahead of it.

In GAMINGbible's review of the console, Mark Foster wrote that the PS5 is an absolute powerhouse of a console. "There's no mistake that Sony are serious about making the PlayStation 5 your essential buy this year, maybe even this decade," he wrote. "Make no mistake that the PS5 is just getting started, and the next generation starts here."

Of course while the impending launch of a next-gen console is always an exciting thing, there are one or two caveats that may not go down brilliantly with customers. As various reviewers (including those at Eurogamer and Push Square) have pointed out, there's currently no way to move your next-gen games from the SSD to an external HDD.

We've known for some time that the SSD was required to boot up PS5 games, bit it was our hope that you'd at least be able to slide games over onto a separate storage unit in order to save space. Sadly, until Sony changes this - if the company decides to or even can - your games can't be moved from the SSD.

You can move your PS4 games between the SSD and an external HDD, which is something, but this option has not been extended to PS5 games at the time of writing. That means to clear space for new games on the PS5 at launch, you'll simply have to delete titles and redownload them at a later date. Remember that the console isn't launching with storage expansions, so deleting is pretty much your only option.

Given that the PS5 features just 667.2GB of usable storage, we're hoping this SSD issue is something Sony does choose to address around launch. Hopefully before the console releases, but at the very least not long after. The PS5 launches in the UK on November 19th, so watch this space.
