PlayStation 5 Launch Game Delayed, Will Now Be PS Plus Freebie

2020 has caused a few hiccups here and there in the game development world. At the moment, it's more of a surprise to everyone if games aren't delayed rather than arriving on time. Many titles are getting pushed back a couple of months to deal with the transition to working from home and other Coronavirus related issues and now, yet another game has fallen victim to delays. But with that delay comes some good news.

Destruction AllStars is a chaotic neon battle arena racing game originally set to release alongside the PS5, but will now land in February. Think of Rocket League, Titanfall, and real monster truck rallies mixed into one, and then make it look more like you're playing Fortnite - that's the feel of Destruction AllStars. Lucid Games is the development team behind the title and it has decided that the game can't be finished for the PS5's launch.

If you're looking forward to the game, however, don't fear - it's now a PS Plus game instead. If you're signed up for PS Plus then you'll get the game for free and you can destroy cars and do parkour around the arena to your heart's content.

Games that go straight to PS Plus have, historically, had a lot of success. The most recent game that people adored was Fall Guys. The Mediatonic hit was all anyone would talk about for weeks and weeks, and although the hype has settled down a little, it remains a firm favourite with many.

Another title that went straight to PlayStation Plus was the aforementioned Rocket League which evolved over time to be a staple in many gamers' collections, and it cultivated a huge esports scene which continues to perform well.

as a paid game might not have garnered the attention it needs to make it a success, but delaying the game until February and then releasing it as a freebie might give it the chance to really accelerate into people's hearts.
