In the story of Biomutant, the pollution of mega corporations spilled beyond containment, eventually eradicating humans and allowing all creatures great and small to step into the sunlight. A kaleidoscopic action role-playing game, the player is a hybrid bear-like creature who goes by the moniker of the One-Eyed Ronin. Exploring the world, the protagonist develops their skills and aptitudes as well as encountering different factions who all have their own thoughts on how the Tree of Life should be saved from the poison under the soil.
James describes it as a mish-mash of Horizon Zero Dawn, Fable and Kung Fu Panda with the poignancy of your favourite Pixar film. "Experiment 101 has produced a masterful title that recreates the sense of wonder you felt the first time you played a fantastical open-world adventure game," he said in his review, so why not dive right in?
I know some of you out there are visual learners, so check out a snippet of Biomutant's cartoony and explosive gameplay below!
Hold your horses, there. The Game Trials only offer five hours with the title in question and that timer trickles down as soon as you start the download. If you ask me, that's more than a little annoying as this gates the trial to those who've got a decent Internet download speed, which isn't fair. The best thing to do is to ensure that nothing is streaming or downloading simultaneously and therefore using your Internet's available bandwidth.
Furthermore, PlayStation accounts are limited to one Game Trial for each game, so if you want to double or triple that time with Biomutant, then hop onto a second or third account. If you do decide to buy Biomutant once the trial period ends on October 28th, your progress, save data and trophies will all carry over into the game itself. As a thorough playthrough will take approximately 40 hours to finish, it's worth considering.
