Call Of Duty: Vanguard is getting an exclusive alpha for PlayStation players and you won't be twiddling your thumbs for long for access to the anticipated shooter.
Call Of Duty: Vanguard will be shown off officially this Thursday, however, we've had a lot of unofficial look-sees at the game. In March, there were rumours a-rumbling that Sledgehammer Games would be developing a new entry that is taking place during the Second World War, and that the working title of this project was Call Of Duty WWII: Vanguard. Not one month later, an insider claimed that progress on the new game was shambolic as the teams were struggling with the shift to remote working and Activision's attention was split over Warzone and Cold War.
Awkward. That very same insider then told us that there would be 24 maps in Call Of Duty: Vanguard and that the game boasts a "dynamic weather system" to raise the stakes in combat encounters - presumably that a sunny day improves visibility for the enemies while a misty morning provides cover for soldiers to use for stealth missions. And, the swastika will be featured in Nazi iconography in the game, apparently.

Now, with the confirmation that Call Of Duty: Vanguard exists and is on its way for the end of this year, players will at long last be able to see the game for themselves. Well. Some of them. Call of Duty Vanguard News on Twitter asserts that the alpha will start on August 27th and will be open to PlayStation players. There's no word on the timings nor duration of the period, though I would imagine that it would span the weekend so that Sledgehammer Games can collect as much information as possible to improve the state of the game ahead of launch.
If you're feeling a little put out by that news, Fortunately, the Battle of Verdansk event in Warzone this week is available to everyone and will likely involve an armored vehicle of some sort. Furthermore, Activision asks that players "squad up and work together to take it down" so it might be one big collaborative effort in the event. Isn't it lovely when we all work together?
