PlayStation Plus Free Games For October 2021 Officially Confirmed

Here we are then

The free PlayStation Plus games for October 2021 have been officially confirmed by Sony... and they are once again exactly what we thought they would be thanks to an earlier leak.

There's been a lot riding on this month, I think it's fair to say. September was a definite step up for subscribers when it was revealed that Overcooked! All You Can Eat would be the free PlayStation 5 title, while Hitman 2 and Predator: Hunting Grounds were made available for the PlayStation 4. A decent mix, I'd hope we can all agree.

Unfortunately, as you can see above, October's freebies might not be to everyone's tastes. PlayStation 5 owners will have exclusive access to Team17's hardcore World War II shooter Hell Let Loose, while PlayStation 4 owners can look forward to Mortal Kombat X and PGA Tour 2K21. As always, PS5 owners will also have access to the PS4 games.

Out of all of these, Mortal Kombat X is perhaps the strangest choice given that it isn't even the most recent Mortal Kombat game. It would probably have made a little more sense to drop Mortal Kombat 11, especially since PS5 users already have access to X via the PlayStation Plus collection.

This likely won't go down as the most explosive PS Plus lineup to date, but it'll be interesting to see just how well PS5 users take to Hell Let Loose - especially as we inch towards the releases of Battlefield 2042 and Call Of Duty: Vanguard.
