PlayStation Plus latest free game comes with a bonus freebie

PlayStation Plus latest free game comes with an additional bonus freebie.

We can never have enough freebie goodies and we always love a Brucie bonus!

Last month, Sony announced its monthly PS Plus Essential line-up for June 2023 and it includes Trek to Yomi, Jurassic World Evolution 2 and NBA 2K23 at no additional cost to subscribers.

Last year, Sony launched its PlayStation Stars reward program. This free service offers players snazzy digital goodies to show off on their PS Plus Stars profile and better still, players can earn points that can be redeemed against free video games or PSN Store credit.

In order to acquire the PS Plus Stars bonuses, players are required to complete campaigns via the accompanying app. Mostly, you will need to achieve a certain milestone in a pre-determined game or simply play one of the recent PlayStation Plus games.

What’s more, as detailed on the PlayStation Blog, now that the PS Plus June 2023 games are available, the latest PlayStation Plus Stars campaign will reward you with bonus freebies for playing NBA 2K23. In total, there are two campaigns related to the American sports sim.

The first campaign in question is called ‘Hoopstation’. According to its description, you are required to: “Hit the court in NBA 2K23 and complete all of the objectives below to get your collectable.

In order to be rewarded with the digital arcade-style ‘Hoopstation’, players must - Play a MyTEAM Challenge game, Play a MyTEAM Clutch Time game, Play a MyTEAM Triple Threat game, and finally, Create a player with MyPLAYER builder.

However, arguably the most favourable of the two campaigns is ‘Play the NBA Finals with PlayStation Plus’ which will reward you with 50 points by simply playing NBA 2K23. That being said, there is a BIG catch.

Recently, we reported that PS Plus subscribers were put off downloading a game due to its file size. That game is NBA 2K23. It’s reported in the article that NBA 2K23 on PS5 comes in at a whopping 153.6GB.

Wanting to grab the 50 points for myself for “simply” playing NBA 2K23, I too was instantly put off by its excessive file size. The PS5 version requires 158GB of storage space. No thanks. I tried downloading the PS4 version as surely that would be smaller, right? Well, yes it is, but it still comes in at a hefty 128GB!

If I could be bothered to temporarily delete/move some games, I would be enthusiastic to claim the free 50 points, but I’m in no rush. So as tempting as these rewards might be, get ready to make some big storage sacrifices if you want these freebies.
