PlayStation Plus subscribers hail 'top tier' free game that deserves a second chance

PlayStation Plus subscribers have hailed the 'top tier' Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, arguing it deserves a second chance.

PlayStation Plus’ July essential tier line-up is available to download now. It wouldn’t be a PlayStation Plus update if I didn’t declare: How is it July already?

This month, players can get their hands on Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Alan Wake Remastered, and Endling - Extinction is Forever. It’s a great time to catch up on Alan Wake Remastered. The long-awaited sequel, Alan Wake 2, is set to launch on 17 October and while you don’t need to have played the original to enjoy it, it certainly helps. Endling - Extinction is Forever is a delightful indie survival side-scrolling action-adventure that’ll see you assume the role of a mother fox protecting her kits. It’s Black Ops Cold War though that’s really earning subscribers’ praise.

Stray is leaving PlayStation Plus soon. If you haven’t already, you should really play this game as soon as possible.

As reported by GGRecon, Call of Duty fans are reminiscing about Black Ops Cold War - perhaps to quell the hunger for news on the next CoD instalment, rumoured to be Modern Warfare 3. Over on Twitter, content creator tdawgsmitty wrote, “After downloading Cold War again and playing three matches, I can confidently say that if this game were released at any other time in history, it would be regarded as a top-tier Call of Duty title.”

Plenty of people agreed. FoxyGrandpa said, “The last CoD game I grinded both mastery camos,” while ohsnapitysnapz added, “Treyarch is the only studio to never really miss.” Many pointed out though that it took Black Ops Cold War some time to reach its full potential. AdamPohh wrote, “Facts. Also if its release wasn’t trash. It took like five months after release to be decent. By then, everyone went back to MW19.”

In related PlayStation Plus news, subscribers are refusing to download one free game that boasts a hefty 200GB file size. Very understandable.
