Sony Intends To Keep Making "Great PS4 Games", Says PlayStation Boss

Don't worry if you can't upgrade right now, Sony still appreciates you.

I think even Sony would have to admit that right now, it's a little hard to get into next-gen gaming. And by that - it's hard to get your hands on a PlayStation 5, seeing as they're out of stock literally everywhere. There's some good news though because Sony has now said that it plans to continue making excellent PS4 games while the console is still supported. Next-gen can wait.

In an interview with Edge (reported by The Gamer) CEO and president of Sony, Jim Ryan, talks about the future of the PlayStation 4 and confirms that it's not being forgotten about just yet. When talking to Edge the boss had this to say: "We do feel that we have a responsibility to that very large community, and an opportunity to carry on making great PS4 games for as long as the need is there. I think you will see a tail with PS4 that you did not see with PS3. But that said, as time passes, you're going to see more and more emphasis on PS5 development."

A notable change in this transition is that PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players are still able to play games with one another with cross-generation play. It's a good way to not lock out players who are still on PS4 for a while to come and continue supporting both communities. Eventually, players will move over to PS5 but Sony is definitely making it clear there is no rush.

We are yet to really experience next-gen gaming too. Cyberpunk 2077, for example, was a last-gen release in design and is yet to get the next-gen update that will gear it towards Xbox Series X and PS5. For PlayStation fans, we're also waiting on the release of titles that make the best use of the 5's SSD like Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. Basically, if you haven't got a PlayStation 5 yet, Sony wants to make sure you know that they still love you and care about you.
