'Uncharted' Movie Has The Biggest Action Sequences Of Tom Holland's Career

Yeah, good luck pal, that's almost impossible to... oh, you did it

We've been following the progress of the Uncharted movie ever since we existed, basically. So when we get a new update on how the production of the PlayStation series adaptation is going, we get a little excited. And then, in this case, just a wee bit worried, too.

As we (mostly) all know by now, Tom Holland is playing Uncharted's main player-controlled protagonist, Nathan Drake, as a slightly-younger version of the treasure hunter/robber and defender of justice/actual mass murderer. We're into it. And now, Holland's revealed that filming of the new movie's been more physically demanding than simply wearing his dirty shirt in a half-tuck and smouldering through some witty one-liners.

As Screenrant reports, Holland is experiencing the "biggest action sequences" that he's ever been in, during the making of Uncharted. And that's, surely, saying something as to the ambition of this movie's on-screen acrobatics and action, given Holland is Spider-Man, and has starred in several films now featuring Marvel's web-slinger, most of which have their share of explosively dramatic set-pieces.

Screenrant quotes Holland's appearance on Variety's Award Circuit podcast, where he said that he'd experienced the "biggest action sequences I've ever been a part of" while filming Uncharted. He added, "The cuts and bruises and bangs I got from dangling off of wires and falling off of things was ridiculous."

Hopefully Holland comes out of the production in one piece, or one suspects Marvel and Disney's lawyers might be on the phone. Set before the events of the PlayStation games that made the franchise famous, Uncharted is being directed by Ruben Fleischer and is scheduled to arrive in cinemas in February 2022. Fingers crossed that we can go to the cinema, at all, by then.

Appearing alongside Holland in Uncharted will be Antonio Banderas as a still-unnamed character, Tati Gabrielle as Braddock, Sophia Taylor Ali as Chloe Price, and Mark Whalberg as Victor Sullivan. And of those last two names mean nothing to you, chances are this movie won't either.

In related Uncharted news, a fifth main game in the series is said to be in development now - but it might be that Naughty Dog isn't at the helm for this one (though surely they'll still have a major say in how it comes out). The second game in the series, 2009's Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, is included in our top 100 greatest games ever list, but where? Click here to find out.
