Another free game for your collection

If there’s one thing we love here, it’s free games. They not only give us an extra game to add to our ever-growing backlog, but we get to try out some titles that may have passed us by. Who can say no to a bargain of zero money spent in this ongoing cost of living crisis?

Deceit 2, a social deduction horror game is now moving to a free-to-play model on Steam, and will release on 3 April for PlayStation and Xbox. This creepy, horror-driven title looks like it’ll be a scream with a bunch of friends on a Friday night.

Among Us kickstarted the recent craze in social deduction games

The shift from paid model to free-to-play is one that many developers have to decide nowadays. When there are so many games that are online only, or require a group to get the most out of the experience, it’s difficult for so many people to find the funds to try these games out. This is why World Makers CEO, James Thompson, made the choice to switch, saying “It wasn’t an easy decision moving to a free-to-play model, but we think it’s the right call to reduce the barrier to entry and make sure more people can enjoy Deceit 2.”

Of course, this may leave players who have already purchased the game wondering what they will get out of this. Thompson has ensured that players will be taken care of saying, “For those players who have already purchased the game ahead of the free-to-play relaunch, we’ll be providing the Werewolf downloadable content, three Crypt Keys, in-game currency, and a Season One Pass for free to express our appreciation for their early and continued support.”

The game will be entirely new to console players and will offer the traditional social deduction gameplay where players have to find out who in the group is out to get them all.
